The insertion kits consist of a UT 380® IUD in Short or Standard version and instruments.
UT 380® CCD is a copper-based, non-hormonal intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) that prevents implantation in the uterus of the fertilized oocyte. This activity is reinforced in an ancillary manner through the presence of copper. Copper has a cytotoxic effect on gametes which causes damage to sperm, and inhibits fertilization. The UT 380® IUD is effective right from the day of its insertion.
UT 380® CCD is a reversible long-term contraceptive method (5 years) indicated in nulliparous, primiparous and multiparous women for: usual intrauterine contraception of first-line, emergency post-coital intrauterine contraception (within 5 days of unprotected or poorly protected intercourse), postpartum and post-abortion intrauterine contraception (within 48 hours postpartum or post -abortum or after complete involution of the uterus).
UT 380® is made up of a body composed of two flexible polyethylene arms, which contains barium sulphate, starting from a vertical axis, around which a 380 mm2 copper wire is wound. A single strand nylon thread is attached at its center to the base of the device.
UT 380® Short measures 28 mm wide × 29 mm long and is suitable for uterine cavities less than 7 cm in height.
UT 380® Standard measures 32 mm wide × 32 mm long and is suitable for uterine cavities with a height of 7 cm or more.
