NT 380 Short® CCD

NT 380® CCD is a non-hormonal copper intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) that acts by causing local inflammation of the endometrium that prevents implantation of the fertilized oocyte into the uterus. This activity is reinforced ancillary by the presence of copper. Copper has a cytotoxic effect on the gametes causing sperm alteration, thus leading to an inhibition of fertilization. The NT 380® IUD is effective from the day of insertion.

NT 380® CCD is a reversible, long-term contraceptive method (5 years) indicated in nulliparous, primiparous and multiparous women for: first-line standard intrauterine contraception, emergency post-coital intrauterine contraception (within 5 days after report not or poorly protected), post-partum and post-abortion intrauterine contraception (within 48 hours postpartum or post-abortion or after complete involution of the uterus).

Composition:

NT 380® consists of a body consisting of two flexible polyethylene arms, containing barium sulphate, from a vertical axis around which a 380 mm2 copper wire is wound. A monofilament polyamide yarn is attached at its center to the base of the device.

Presentation:

  • NT 380® Short measures 24 mm wide × 30.5 mm long and is suitable for uterine cavities with a height of less than 7 cm.
  • NT 380® Standard measures 31 mm wide × 33 mm long and is suitable for uterine cavities up to 7 cm high.
